Alice Pixley Young is a multi-media artist working with installation, glass, video, sculpture and drawing. She received her MFA from the University of Maryland and has shown nationally, receiving support from the NEA, the Surdna Foundation, the Studio at Corning Museum of Glass and most recently, the Jentel Artist Residency Program. Her current work involves installation and sculpture incorporating kiln cast glass, video and sound. She uses a broad range of materials including fibers, salt, coal, and found objects and is interested in viewing instruments such as peepholes and hand mirrors. Partnering her kiln cast glass objects with video projections and sound, references and examines ideas of how we see and remember as well as creating viewer interactivity and theater. She currently teaches at the University of Cincinnati and the School for Creative and Performing Arts and maintains a studio in Cincinnati, Ohio.
